Innovation Leads
The Innovation Leads Program (ILP) was initiated through a collaboration between Edified Generation Rwanda (EGR) and the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS). Launched in response to the COVID-19 crisis, this program aims to address the urgent challenges faced by the education sector in Rwanda by fostering innovative approaches. It specifically targets learners, teachers, and out-of-school youth in the fields of STEM, TVET, ICT, and Emerging technologies. To ensure high-quality education, EGR has partnered with internationally recognized trainers, including ICDL Africa, to raise beneficiaries to international standards. EGR has also recognized the importance of skills upgrading for TVET teachers in Rwanda, particularly in ICT, AI, and Robotics. Through ILP, EGR aims to provide these teachers with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively integrate cutting-edge technologies into their classrooms, preparing students for future job opportunities.
Innovation Leads-Virtual Robotics Toolkits
It is in this complex world of challenges that we bring an exciting innovation- The use of digital robots as a learning tool! The Virtual Robotics Toolkit is a full physics-accurate simulation of physical robots. It is not an animation, it is designed to function, be built, and coded just as a real robot is.
The real world is fast moving towards a concept called digital twinning, whereby an organization such as Boeing, a car company like Tesla, or any other manufacturer or builder, does things digitally before committing to bricks and metal. The digital world allows them to work faster, have many more iterations quicker, communicate designs globally in an instant, and when ready move to the more expensive physical.
With the use of digital robots, combined with a much smaller number of physical ones, our students are learning all the concepts and skills that employers and governments are looking for, but faster and less expensively.
